Monument to Jorge Juan, in Herrera Park (2003)

In 1869, at the start of the 'Democratic Sexenio', the town council placed next to the Capitanía Palace a statue of Jorge Juan, the naval officer who had planned the original Ferrol. This would be the first of the three public monuments aimed at exalting the link between the city and the Navy, the same purpose that inspired the books on the history of Ferrol that the city council sponsored in the same years.
