Chalet of 'Cabezas' (2004)

The blueprints for the building were awarded first prize in a national competition for chalets, and they were designed by the well-known Catalan architect Juan S. Roig. Built on the outskirts of Ferrol in 1918, its interior was luxuriously decorated with ceramic panels from Talavera. The history of its first owners is highly representative of the way in which the local bourgeoisie organized strategies at economic, social, and matrimonial level. The lady of the house belonged to a family of landed gentry, one of whose members had emigrated and made his fortune in business in Buenos Aires. Her husband was part of a dynasty of naval officers, and by no means the last in a family tradition.
