Call for applications for the Kinship Conservation Fellows 2015 programme

Kinship Conservation Fellows is accepting applications for its month-long environmental leadership programme (www.kinshipfellows.org/program) for mid-career conservation practitioners. Each year 18 Fellows are carefully selected from diverse regions and specialities to participate in Kinship's intensive residential learning experience, which emphasizes market-based solutions to environmental problems. With a curriculum focused on leadership skills, business and management practices, finance principles and communication techniques, Kinship equips Fellows with a range of tools to help them make a greater impact in conservation.

There's nothing else quite like Kinship in the conservation space; the experience offers mid career professionals an opportunity to take a chunk of time from their day-to-day careers to explore a range of topics, from economics to international carbon offsets, as well as work on a related project. The classroom experience was great but by far the most rewarding part was being able to live, play and work with other Fellows for an entire month; this was truly an honour.

The programme features renowned faculty members (www.kinshipfellows.org/faculty) presenting real-world conservation case studies, specialized leadership training including individual coaching sessions, and the opportunity to join a dynamic, global network of 210 Fellows in 48 countries and six continents. As a Fellow you become part of a collaborative, entrepreneurial community focused on creating lasting change. Regional chapters and affinity groups focusing on various issues, from conservation finance to watersheds and coastal resiliency, provide ongoing opportunities for collaboration across cohorts.

For information on the latest innovative projects that Fellows are working on around the world visit the Kinship Fellows website (www.kinshipfellows.org) to view the annual webinar series, or Kinship's blog, The Kinship Lens (www.thekinshiplens.com).

Kinship was a turning point in my life. It made me realize that I could go from doing good things to doing great things and that I am not alone in that. I met the most amazing conservation leaders who, like me, are trying to make a difference. Now that we have met, we can do it together.

The 2015 programme will take place in Bellingham, Washington, USA during 28 June–29 July. In addition to intensive training, the 18 selected Fellows will receive a stipend of USD 6,000 and lodging. The chosen candidates will be demonstrated leaders, innovative thinkers, and mission-driven achievers. To be eligible to apply, candidates must have at least 5 years of professional experience, a bachelor's degree or equivalent, and a familiarity with market-based mechanisms.

The deadline for applications is 26 January. More information about the programme, full eligibility requirements and an online application form are available at www.kinshipfellows.org
