Let T be a Fourier integral operator on Rn of order–(n–1)/2. Seeger, Sogge, and Stein showed (among other things) that T maps the Hardy space H1 to L1. In this note we show that T is also of weak-type (1, 1). The main ideas are a decomposition of T into non-degenerate and degenerate components, and a factorization of the non-degenerate portion.

In the present paper we consider Fitting classes of finite soluble groups which locally satisfy additional conditions related to the behaviour of their injectors. More precisely, we study Fitting classes 1 ≠⊆such that an-injector of G is, respectively, a normal, (sub)modular, normally embedded, system permutable subgroup of G for all G ∈.

Locally normal Fitting classes were studied before by various authors. Here we prove that some important results—already known for normality—are valid for all of the above mentioned embedding properties. For instance, all these embedding properties behave nicely with respect to the Lockett section. Further, for all of these properties the class of all finite soluble groups G such that an x-injector of G has the corresponding embedding property is not closed under forming normal products, and thus can fail to be a Fitting class.

It is shown that if R is a right Noetherian ring whose right socle is essential as a right ideal and is contained in the left socle, then R is right Artinian. This result may be viewed as a one-sided version of a result of Ginn and Moss on two-sided Noetherian rings with essential socle. This also extends the work of Nicholson and Yousif where the same result is obtained under a stronger hypothesis. We use our work to obtain partial positive answers to some open questions on right CF, right FGF and right Johns rings.

We establish the existence and approximation of solutions to the operator inclusion y ∈ Ty for deterministic and random cases for a nonexpansive and *-nonexpansive multivalued mapping T defined on a closed bounded (not necessarily convex) subset C of a Banach space. We also prover random fixed points and approximation results for*-nonexpansive random operators defined on an unbounded subject C of a uniformly convex Banach space.

Staring form a probability σ on the half-line moments of any order A. G. Pakes has defined probabilities σr, by length biasing order r and gr, by the stationary-excess operation of order r, r = 1, 2,…Examples are given to show that σ can bt determined in the Stieltjes sence while σ1 and g1 are indeterminate in the Stieltjes sence. This shows that a statement in a recent paper by Pakes does not hold.

We study the harmonicity of maps to or from cosymplectic manifolds by relating them to maps to or from Kähler spaces.

A lattice formation is a class of groups whose elements are the direct product of Hall subgroups corresponding to pairwise disjoint sets of primes. In this paper Fitting classes with stronger closure properties involving F-subnormal subgroups, for a lattice formation F of full characteristic, are studied. For a subgroup-closed saturated formation G, a characterisation of the G-projectors of finite soluble groups is also obtained. It is inspired by the characterisation of the Carter subgroups as the N-projectors, N being the class of nilpotent groups.

We find necessary and sufficient conditions for completing an arbitrary 2 by n latin rectangle to an n by n symmetric latin square, for completing an arbitrary 2 by n latin rectangle to an n by n unipotent symmetric latin square, and for completing an arbitrary 1 by n latin rectangle to an n by n idempotent symmetric latin square. Equivalently, we prove necessary and sufficient conditions for the existence of an (n−1)-edge colouring of Kn (n even), and for n-edge colouring of Kn (n odd) in which the colours assigned to the edges incident with two vertices are specified in advance.

In this paper we study the existence and uniqueness of positive solutions of boundary vlue problems for continuous semilinear perturbations, say f: [0, 1) × (0, ∞) → (0, ∞), of class of quasilinear operators which represent, for instance, the radial form of the Dirichlet problem on the unit ball of RN for the operators: p-Laplacian (1 < p < ∞) ad k-Hessian (1 ≤ k ≤ N). As a key feature, f (r, u) is possibly singular at r = 1 or u =0, Our approach exploits fixed point arguments and the Shooting Method.

Let k be a positive integer and b a nonzero constant. Suppose that F is a family of meromorphic functions in a domain D. If each function f ∈ F has only zeros of multiplicity at least k + 2 and for any two functions f, g ∈ F, f and g share 0 in D and f(k) and g(k) share b in D, then F is normal in D. The case f ≠ 0, f(k) ≠ b is a celebrated result of Gu.
