IPA Council

In November–December 2014, elections were held to choose twenty members of the Association's Council to serve from 2015 to 2019. With 258 members voting (255 online, 3 by paper), the following twenty-one nominees were elected (due to a tie):

  • Patricia A. Keating

  • Ian Maddieson

  • John. H. Esling

  • John J. Ohala

  • Francis J. Nolan

  • John C. Wells

  • Michael G. Ashby

  • Keith Johnson

  • Adrian P. Simpson

  • Gerard Docherty

  • Amalia Arvaniti

  • Ailbhe Ní Chasaide

  • Daniel Recasens

  • Katerina Nicolaidis

  • Maria-Josep Solé

  • Jonathan Harrington

  • Cécile Fougeron

  • William J. Barry

  • Janet Fletcher

  • Patricia Ashby

  • Patrice Beddor

The Council-elect will elect ten additional members in March 2015.

PCICPhS representatives

In November–December 2014, a separate election was also held to choose seven IPA-elected representatives to the Permanent Council for the Organization of the International Congresses of Phonetic Sciences, to serve from 2015 to 2023. With 258 members voting (255 online, 3 by paper), the following seven nominees were elected:

  • Anne Cutler

  • Daniel Hirst

  • Katerina Nicolaidis

  • Masaki Taniguchi
