Thomas Adam is a professor at the University of Texas at Arlington where he teaches German and modern transatlantic history. His recent publications include Buying Respectability: Philanthropy and Urban Society in Transnational Perspective, 1840s to 1930s (2009) and a textbook on transnational history, Intercultural Transfer and the Making of the Modern World, 1800–2000 (2011).
