Kristan Cockerill is faculty in the Interdisciplinary Studies Program at Appalachian State University (Boone, North Carolina). She has 20 years of experience in the environmental policy arena, working on diverse projects at the local, state, and federal levels. Most recently, her work has focused on social and communication issues relevant to making water management decisions. As a professor, she has taught a broad suite of interdisciplinary courses at Appalachian State University, Columbia University's Biosphere 2 Center in Arizona, and the University of New Mexico.
