Kevin Kelly's dissertation dealt with the songs of Ives, focusing on the theme of death and its connections with nineteenth-century culture. He supervises the Music Library at the Hugh Hodgson School of Music at the University of Georgia in Athens. He also teaches theory and a graduate seminar in American music. Outside the university he directs several choral ensembles and a recorder consort.
