Maureen A. Flanagan is a professor of history and chair of the Department of Humanities at the Illinois Institute of Technology. A specialist in the Gilded Age and Progressive Era as well as urban history, she is currently president of SHGAPE. Her most recent book is America Reformed: Progressives and Progressivisms, 1890s–1920s (2007). She is working on a manuscript tentatively titled Constructing the Patriarchal City: Gender and the Built Environments of Chicago, Dublin, London, and Toronto, 1870s–1940s.
