Jørn Brøndal is associate professor of history and director of studies at the Center for American Studies, University of Southern Denmark. A member of this journal's editorial board, he is the author of Ethnic Leadership and Midwestern Politics: Scandinavian Americans and the Progressive Movement of Wisconsin, 1890–1914 (2004) and is working on a book on Scandinavian travel writers in the United States in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries.
