Linda Gordon is professor of history at New York University. After publishing a series of books on policy history dealing with birth control, family violence, and welfare, her most recent book is The Great Arizona Orphan Abduction, winner of the Bancroft and Beveridge prizes. She is currently working on a study of Dorothea Lange and New Deal political culture. In 2001 she was named SHGAPE Distinguished Historian.
