Abstract

The temperature stability of NaI(T1) scintillators is studied for crystals with various Tl+ impurity content. It is shown that supersaturation of the T1+ ions and regulation of solid solution decomposition increase the light output at elevated temperatures. An explanation of this phenomenon is proposed.
